It isn’t all about what you eat…
it is WHEN you eat it
Find out how I lost 39 lbs with intermittent fasting
Abs are made in the kitchen not the gym
Whether you want a six pack of abs or just to fit into your favorite jeans, you need to accept that it won’t come from just working out more. You need to make a change in the kitchen before you will achieve success with weight loss. The problem was that I hated counting calories or sticking with a diet plan. The truth is that I love to eat and I couldn’t handle being told what I could or couldn’t eat.
Losing weight is hard
I was never skinny, but there were times in my life when I felt like I was being athletic and I felt great and looked great. In 2015, when I was competitively powerlifting, I worked out four times per week and ate whatever I wanted. This helped me get strong, I gained a lot of extra baggage around my midsection. I was tired of working out all the time and not feeling great about taking off my shirt. I wanted to stay strong, cut the fat and look great!
Fasting fits a busy lifestyle better than “dieting” down
No meal-prep or packing lunches to worry about, just live your life and eat well.
No hard decisions about “healthy” snacks.
You choose when the best time for you to fast and eat is. Outside of some general guidelines, you make all the choices.
If you chose to fast, medical science has shown that there are some amazing health benefits:
These are just a few of the powerful healing properties that fasting unlocks for your body with links to the science that backs them up.
- Improved Insulin Sensitivity and Oxidative Blood Markers
- Boosted HGH Production
- Enhanced Fat Loss & Muscle-Building
- Improved Overall Health
- Prolonged Life Expectancy
That is all a technical way of saying that regular fasting helps your body heal, lose fat, build muscle, and live a healthier, longer life.

How to Intermittent Fast
Intermittent fasting is not a diet, it’s a DIET SCHEDULE.
I recommend starting with 14-18 hours of fasting on two non-consecutive days. During your fasting, you can drink water, tea or black coffee but nothing with calories.
When your fasting is done for the day, be careful not to binge! To prevent an insulin surge, break your fast with two mini meals (~200 cal) spread at least 30 minutes apart. Then you can eat normally for the rest of the day.
Try it out next week. On Tuesday and Thursday, skip breakfast and lunch then eat a light snack at 3pm, 4pm and dinner at 6pm.
Sound like you could do that? Great! It doesn’t need to be more complicated.
If you are a pro looking to up level your fasting game, try 3 or 4 days a week or get a workout in during your post-fast feeding window.
Fasting has been shown to help Type 2 Diabetes
There have only been small studies so far in treating diabetes with fasting, but they are all very promising! In this study, all three patients with type 2 diabetes saw improvements in their A1C levels, had more energy and were able to reduce or completely get off their diabetes medication! Plus, they all lost significant weight and a couple inches on their waist.
This is the protocol they followed to see such dramatic results:
For a couple months, these patients fasted for 24-hours on three non-consecutive days of the week (think Monday, Wednesday and Friday). This meant that on fasting days, the patients only ate dinner, while on non-fasting days the patients ate lunch and dinner. These were all low-carb meals.
Be consistent with your fasting and when you do eat, keep it clean and low carb.
If you are being treated for diabetes, be safe and consult with your medical professional. Other studies have backed up these findings, so you can be confident that there are effective, drug-free treatment options out there.
The struggle is real
Remember that weight loss is a journey, even if you have everything clicking along perfectly, there will be ups and downs. Checkout this chart measuring by bodyweight over time. Even being consistent with my regimen for a year, I still had wild fluctuations in my weight.
One of my favorite books, “The Slight Edge” by Jeff Olson, lays out that the key to success is to “do the small things over and over again until success kicks in. Most of these small things are extremely easy to do – such as choosing between a salad or a packet of French fries, saving a penny or spending a penny. Yet, compounded over time, they can produce massive results.”
Get these Essential Oils to Supercharge your Fasting
A big part of my daily fasting routine is drinking water flavored with citrus essential oils. It boosts your metabolism and helps cleanse the gut, promoting a healthy microbiome while you aren’t eating.
The Slim and Sassy blend combines all of the herbs good for metabolic health (cinnamon grapefruit etc.) with peppermint to soothe the stomach to create a powerful additive for weight loss. Just add a couple drops to your water throughout the day.
I can’t say I am sassier but I am slimmer since I started using it.
